Abstract:
Provided is a driving assistance device capable of, when acquiring information about the surroundings of the host vehicle by using communication, selecting, from the information to be acquired, information necessary to assist in driving the host vehicle while excluding unnecessary information without omitting any part of the necessary information. This driving assistance device, which is mounted in a vehicle, is provided with: a surrounding environment recognition unit that recognizes the surrounding environment of the host vehicle on the basis of map information and in-vehicle sensor information from a sensor mounted in the host vehicle; a driving assistance determination unit that determines driving assistance for the host vehicle on the basis of information from the surrounding environment recognition unit; a communication information acquisition unit that acquires communication information transmitted from outside the host vehicle; a driving behavior determination unit that determines driving behavior that can be taken by the host vehicle, on the basis of the in-vehicle sensor information and the map information; a communication information acquisition area setting unit that sets an area where the communication information is to be acquired, on the basis of the driving behavior; and a communication information acquisition determination unit that selects communication information which exists within the acquisition area and which may affect the driving behavior of the host vehicle. The surrounding environment recognition unit recognizes the surrounding environment of the host vehicle by using the communication information selected by the communication information acquisition determination unit.
