Abstract:

A raw material for an electric resistance element having a chemical composition: nickel: 20 to 50 mass %, iron: less than 5 mass %, and valance: cobalt and inevitable impurities; and a method for preparing an electric resistance element which comprises providing a composition containing nickel in an amount of 20 to 60 mass %, iron in an amount less than 5 mass %, and cobalt and inevitable impurities in the balanced amount, melting the composition and casting it into lumps, subjecting the lump to hot working to remove the surface thereof, and then subjecting the hot-worked product to cold working and heat treatment.
