Abstract:
Provided is an electric vehicle that is able to ensure turning performance while requiring minimal space for installing drive system components such as an electric motor on a chassis. The electric vehicle (1) is provided with: a chassis (10); a pair of front wheels (21, 31) and a pair of rear wheels (22, 32) arranged on the right side and left side of the chassis (10); two electric motors (41R, 41L), each driving either the right and left front wheels (21, 31) or the right and left rear wheels (22, 32); sprockets (21b, 22b, 31b, 32b) and belts (23, 33) serving as power transmission members for transmitting motive forces between the pair of front wheels and the pair of rear wheels; and a battery (40) for supplying electric power to the electric motors (41R, 41L). Changing of direction or turning of the electric vehicle (1) is achieved by changing the rotation speeds and rotation directions of the wheels by changing the motive forces from the electric motors (41R, 41L) using gearboxes (43R, 43L).
