Abstract:
Disclosed is an electrical contact material which can be reduced in the wear-out rate after a cut-off test that is carried out by an overload test or short-circuit test for breakers and the like. Also disclosed is an electrical contact material which can be prevented from being welded after a cut-off test that is carried out by a short-circuit test for breakers and the like. An electrical contact material (31) according to one embodiment of the present invention contains not less than 4% by mass but not more than 7% by mass of graphite with the balance made up of silver and unavoidable impurities, and has a deflection of not less than 0.5 mm, a Vickers hardness of not less than 55, and an oxygen content of not more than 100 ppm. Preferably, the electrical contact material (31) additionally contains tungsten carbide. The tungsten carbide is preferably contained in an amount of not less than 2% by mass but not more than 4% by mass, and has an average particle diameter of not less than 40 nm but not more than 3 µm. An electrical contact material (31) according to another embodiment of the present invention contains not less than 0.5% by mass but not more than 2% by mass of graphite with the balance made up of silver and unavoidable impurities, and has a deflection of not less than 0.8 mm, a Vickers hardness of not less than 40, and an oxygen content of not more than 100 ppm.
