Title:
ELECTROLYTE MEMBRANE AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/007859
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
An electrolyte membrane (5, 5a) which has a difference in EW value between regions
thereof but has the same durability as an electrolyte membrane made of one ion-exchange
resin (i.e., electrolyte membrane having an even EW value throughout all regions).
Two or more ion-exchange resin membranes (1) and (2) differing in EW value are
placed on the lower die (11) of a hot press (10) so that an end part of one of the membranes
overlies an end of the other. The upper die (12) is caused to approach and at least
the overlap region (3) of the ion-exchange resin membranes (1) and (2) is pressed
with heating. In the overlap region (3), the two ion-exchange resins are melted
and united in a mixed state. Thus, the adjacent ion-exchange resin membranes
are bonded and united in a stable state to give the electrolyte membrane (5).
