According to various embodiments of the present document, an electronic device and a method by which the electronic device performs a mobile payment comprise a communication module, at least one processor, and a memory, wherein the memory can store instructions for allowing, when executed, the processor to: receive information related to authentication from a user according to a payment request; request authentication from an authentication server on the basis of the received information related to authentication; receive information related to an authenticated session from the authentication server in response to the authentication request; generate payment data including the information related to an authenticated session; and transmit the generated payment data to a payment device through the communication module. Other various embodiments are possible.
