Abstract:
An engine control device (70) is applied to a vehicle engine system mounted on a vehicle, having an engine (50) in which fuel injected from a fuel injection valve (51) is used for combustion, and provided with an exhaust purification catalyst (54) having an oxygen occluding capacity on an exhaust passage of the engine. The engine control device stops the fuel infection and executes fuel cut when a predetermined fuel cut condition is established, and cancels the fuel cut and resumes the fuel infection when a predetermined canceling condition is established while the fuel cut is being executed. The engine control device comprises a timing prediction unit that predicts the timing of canceling the fuel cut on the basis of vehicle traveling information about the traveling of the vehicle during the execution of the fuel cut, and an injection control unit that causes the fuel injection valve to perform fuel injection at a timing before the timing of canceling during the execution of the fuel cut.
