Abstract:
An engine oil composition characterized in containing (A) a star-shaped polymer having a weight-average molecular weight of 100,000-1,000,000, the star-shaped polymer having a star-shaped structure in which polymer chains branch from the center of the polymer, and these polymer chains being obtained by copolymerizing and hydrogenating a vinyl aromatic compound monomer and a conjugated diene monomer, and (B) polyalkyl(meth)acrylate having a weight-average molecular weight of 200,000-600,000, as viscosity index-improving agents, the (A) star-shaped polymer content (MA) being 0.10-2.00 mass% relative to the total mass of the engine oil composition, the (B) polyalkyl(meth)acrylate content (MB) being 0.50-6.00 mass% relative to the total mass of the engine oil composition, MA/MB being 0.10-1.00, and the viscosity index of the engine oil composition being 185-230. The present invention makes it possible to provide an engine oil composition having exceptional fuel-saving properties, the engine oil composition being especially suitably used in diesel engines.
