Abstract:

A pinion gear section has: a rotary member that rotates as an output rotary shaft rotates; a first pinion gear that is fitted to the rotary member via a first serrated section, rotates along with the rotary member as the output rotary shaft rotates, moves along with the rotary member as the pinion gear section is moved toward the engagement position by a push-out mechanism, and engages with an engine start gear first; and a second pinion gear that is fitted to the rotary member adjacently to the first pinion gear via a second serrated section, rotates along with the rotary member as the output rotary shaft rotates, and moves along with the rotary member when further moved toward the engagement position in order to engage with the engine start gear with a delay after the first pinion gear with the first pinion gear being already engaged with the engine start gear. The fitting is carried out such that the phases of the teeth of the first pinion gear and the teeth of the second pinion gear are aligned with each other in the circumferential direction by the first and the second serrated sections.
