Abstract:
An exhaust purifier including: a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas by reducing nitrogen oxides contained in exhaust gas exhausted from the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, the efficiency of nitrogen oxide purification varying depending on the temperature of the catalyst; a reducing agent feeding means capable of feeding a reducing agent for reducing nitrogen oxides to the exhaust gas introduced to the catalyst; and a catalyst temperature adjustment means having a configuration whereby it is possible to adjust the temperature of the catalyst according to the operational status of the internal combustion engine. The exhaust purifier is configured to prohibit adjustment of the catalyst temperature, even if the temperature of the catalyst should be adjusted, if a condition is met wherein it is not possible to provide an amount of the reducing agent corresponding to the catalyst temperature.
