Abstract:
In order to provide a low-cost fuel supply system fault detection device capable of reliably detecting faults in the fuel pressure switching operation in a fuel supply system with which the fuel pressure can be switched, in a fuel supply system equipped with a fuel pump unit (11) that supplies fuel to an injector (3) of an engine (1), a pressure regulator (20) capable of adjusting the fuel pressure to any of multiple different pressure settings, and a set pressure switching mechanism (40) that operates the pressure regulator (20) so as to switch the pressure setting, this fault detection device is equipped with: a status change detection unit (51a), which operates the set pressure switching mechanism (40) so as to switch the pressure setting from a low-pressure-side pressure setting to a high-pressure-side pressure setting when the amount of fuel supplied to the injector (3) becomes approximately constant, and which detects a change in status related to the energization of a pump drive motor (11m) after the pressure setting has been switched; and a fault determination unit (51b), which determines on the basis of that detection information whether a fault has occurred in the switching of the pressure setting.
