Description:
FISHING LURE The invention relates to a fishing lure mimicking a fish, and furnished with at least one hook.

The purpose of a lure furnished with a hook and mimicking a bait fish, is to attract the tar- get fish to take the lure and get caught on the hook. A conventional way of coating the lure is by way of painting, resulting in a normal, hard paint surface. such a surface, however, has a"lifeless"touch.

In patent application GB 2 060 331 a floating hook for use in fly fishing is disclosed, fur- nished with flock on the hook stem. The main purpose of the flock is to provide better ad- herence for the foamed plastic material used for buoyancy. Longer flock, protruding from the foamed plastic, may also be used. Other publications disclosing flocked lures for fly fishing are patents US 2,755,055 and AT 364 667, and patent application FR 2 617 010.

US patent 4,133,134 discloses a spinner-type lure having on the spinner blade a velvet-like flocked surface for adherence of an oil based scent material.

The object of the present invention is to provide a lure even more reminiscent of a living bait, able to better attract the catch. It is characteristic for a lure according to the present invention, that the part of it mimicking a bait fish is partly or wholly flocked.

The flocked surface changes the hard and"lifeless"touch of the lure to make the lure more natural and reminiscent of a living bait. Part of the target fish have a way of feeling the lure before the final strike, and at that moment the coating is of crucial importance.

The invention and the particulars thereof are disclosed below with reference to the ap- pended drawing showing a lure according to the invention.

Lure 1 is shaped to mimic a bait, and the surface thereof may be provided with a pattern reminiscent of e. g. fish eyes 2. For catching, one or more hooks 3 are provided. For con- necting to a line, a fastening ring or loop 4 is attached.

A lure according to the invention is wholly or partly covered with a velvet-like flock coat- ing 5. For example, the sides of the lure may be flock-coated.

The coating is layered. A lure is firstly coated wholly, or over a delimited area as desired, with water resistant adhesive, which may be coloured, fluorescent or reflective, or clear and transparent. The adhesive may be sprayed onto the lure surface.

The flock coating is subsequently carried out by means of static electricity. Short fibre par- ticles, about 0.4-2.0 mm in length, are sprayed or blown onto the lure surface, and due to the electric charge, the fibres adhere to the adhesive layer in a position essentially vertical to the lure surface.

For flocking, all fibre materials fulfilling the requirements of use are suitable for flocking.

Preferably, various polyester and polyamide fibres are used. The properties of the flocked surface can be controlled by means of fibre material, length, degree of cylindrical shape and thickness, fibre colouring and density of fibre per unit surface (DETEX number).

The fibre and the lure may be pre-coloured prior to the fibre coating, or the colouring and pattern may be applied subsequent to the coating.
