Title:
FOREIGN MATTER DETECTION AND REMOVAL DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2004/041453
Kind Code:
A1

The device makes it possible to reliably detect and remove foreign matter in a closed system where the foreign matter coexists in a fluid such as a fiber-component-containing fruit juice or medicine. The device is characterized by comprising a distributor (6) consisting of a tubular member communicating at one end thereof with a flow channel for fluid and closed at the other end thereof and having a plurality of oval slits (11, 11...) arranged in axial rows, a plurality of main flow channels (7) communicating with the oval slits (11) of the distributor (6) and having a flat cross-section, a foreign matter detecting means (14) provided in each main flow channel (7) for optically detecting foreign matter in the fluid flowing through the main flow channel, and a foreign mater removal section (15) disposed downstream of the foreign matter detecting means and adapted to operate on the basis of a foreign matter detection signal from the detecting means, so as to discharge a predetermined amount of fluid containing the foreign matter.
