Abstract:
A front-rear redundant speed and distance measurement system and method for a rail train. Each of a front end and a rear end of a train has an independent speed and distance measurement system. Each speed and distance measurement system comprises M primary sensors and N secondary sensors for speed and distance measurement, where M ≥ 1, N ≥ 0, and M + N ≥ 2. Each speed and distance measurement system further comprises a speed and distance measurement processing unit for processing measurement data from sensors and for outputting speed and distance measurement result information. Measurement information of the sensors at the front end and the rear end of the train is shared between the two speed and distance measurement systems via a communication device. The speed and distance measurement processing unit selects at least X normally operating sensors from the sensors of the speed and distance measurement systems at the two ends as measurement data sources so as to perform processing, wherein at least Y out of the X sensors are primary sensors. The system achieves redundant safe front and rear positioning for the train, and improves the reliability of automatic operation of the train.
