Abstract:
Provided is a gas circuit breaker such that degradation in insulation performance and current breaking performance due to unwanted gas generated from an arc-extinguishing gas sprayed on an arc can be reduced. The gas circuit breaker includes a sealed container 8 in which an arc-extinguishing gas is enclosed, a first fixed contact portion 2 fixed to the sealed container 8, a second fixed contact portion 4 fixed to the sealed container 8, and a movable contact portion 3 moving between the first fixed contact portion 2 and the second fixed contact portion 4 to conduct or block the current of the first fixed contact portion 2 and the second fixed contact portion 4, and extinguishes, by spraying the arc-extinguishing gas, an arc which is generated between a fixed arc contact 21 provided in the first fixed contact portion 2 and a movable arc contact 31 provided in the movable contact portion 3 when the current is blocked, said gas circuit breaker being configured such that an air chamber 5 for accumulating unwanted gas generated from the arc-extinguishing gas sprayed onto the arc is provided, the sealed container 8 has a shape formed by joining larger aperture ends of two hollow frustoconical portions 82, 83 via a cylindrical portion 81, and the air chamber 5 is formed inside the cylindrical portion 81 that composes the sealed container 8.
