Abstract:
A glass panel unit manufacturing method is provided which renders unnecessary clips for firmly clamping a first panel and a second panel. This manufacturing method of a glass panel unit (10) involves an adhesive placement step, a pillar formation step, and assembly formation step, a bonding step, a depressurization step, and a sealing step. In the adhesive placement step, a thermal adhesive (a frame body (410) and a partition (420)) is placed on the first panel (20), which has prescribed warping, or on the second panel (30). In the pillar formation step, pillars (70) are arranged on the first panel or the second panel. In the assembly formation step, an assembly (100) is formed. In the bonding step, in a state in which the first panel is positioned on top and the second panel is positioned on bottom, the assembly is heated to bond the first panel and the second panel together. In the depressurization step, an internal space (500) is depressurized. In the sealing step, an air discharge opening (700) is closed to form a sealed reduced-pressure space (50).
