Abstract:
The present invention provides hydrophilic silicone particles characterized in that a surfactant is chemically bound by radical polymerization to the surfaces of silicone particles having a volume average particle size of 0.1 to 100 μm, and a method for producing hydrophilic silicone particles characterized by radically polymerizing an emulsion comprising components (A) to (D) and immobilizing hydrophilic groups derived from component (B) on the surfaces of silicone particles. (A) 100 parts by mass of organopolysiloxane having radical polymerization reactive groups (B) 0.5 to 50 parts by mass of a surfactant having radical polymerization reactive groups (C) 0.1 to 5 parts by mass of a radical generator (D) 10 to 1000 parts by mass of water Thus, silicone particles having hydrophilic groups which can be easily dispersed in an aqueous material without additionally using a dispersant (typically a surfactant), and a method for producing such hydrophilic silicone particles are provided.
