Abstract:
An image encoding system provided with a global motion detecting unit which detects the motion of the whole picture between the reduced image of the present frame and the reduced image of a reference frame and outputs global motion information signals, and an image encoding unit which detects the motion in a small region of its vicinity in accordance with the global motion information signals and encodes the image by using motion compensative prediction. The quantity of calculation in the motion detection by the image encoding unit is reduced.
