Abstract:
An imaging element as laid out in an embodiment of the present invention has an array of charge-coupled elements (301) configured from charge-coupled elements upon an image plane, and a charge-detection amplifier (302) which converts a pixel charge to an electrical signal for each pixel. Upon reading the charges that have accumulated in the pixels to the charge-coupled elements (301) for all pixels at the same time, high-resolution color components are output via the charge-detection amplifier (302) to a horizontal transfer path (316) so as to output same externally of the imaging elements. Then, pixel summing in the vertical direction of other low-resolution color components is performed upon the array of charge-coupled elements (301), and then pixel summing in the horizontal direction is performed upon the horizontal transfer path (316), after which output is performed. The image obtained from the imaging elements is input into the image processing unit of the next stage so as to acquire a high-resolution/high-frame-rate output color image.
