Abstract:
Provided is an input device which includes an aerial image formation mechanism that forms an image as an aerial image by projecting an image displayed on a display unit into space, and can appropriately input various types of information. An input device 1 comprises a detection mechanism 5 for detecting the position of the user's fingertip in an aerial image display area R that is an area in which an aerial image is displayed, wherein the aerial image display area R is an input part 14 for inputting characters or symbols using the user's fingertips. A control unit of the input device 1 recognizes, on the basis of the detection result of the detection mechanism 5, the characters or symbols input by the user through the input part 14, and performs notification control for notifying the user that next characters or symbols can be input through the input part 14, when a predetermined time elapses after the user's fingertip detected by the detection mechanism 5 is no longer detected, or when the user's fingertip stopped at a fixed position is detected by the detection mechanism 5 for a predetermined time.
