Abstract:
A leaked light removing component (3) is provided with: an optical fiber, which has a core (51), and a cladding (52) having a refractive index lower than that of the core; and a leaked light processing member (60) that is provided on the optical fiber. The leaked light processing member has: a light transmitting resin layer (61) that covers the outer circumferential surface of the cladding; a light transmitting heat insulating layer (62) that covers at least a part of the outer circumferential surface of the resin layer; and a metal layer (63) that surrounds the outer circumferential surface of the heat insulating layer. Refractive indexes of the heat insulating layer and the resin layer are larger than a refractive index of the cladding, a heat conductivity of the heat insulating layer is smaller than that of the metal layer, and a glass-transition temperature of the heat insulating layer is higher than that of the resin layer. Conduction of heat generated in the metal layer can be suppressed by means of the heat insulating layer. As a result, the service-life of the optical fiber can be lengthened.
