Provided is a lens barrel capable of further reduction in size in a stored state. A lens barrel is provided with: a first frame (70, 74); a second frame (50) supported by the first frame so as to be able to rotate about the optical axis and move parallel to the optical axis direction; a third frame (41) for moving in the optical axis direction while maintaining a constant distance from the second frame in the optical axis direction; a first lens group (G1) comprising at least one lens for receiving light from a subject; a first lens retaining frame (11) for retaining the first lens group and engaging with the second frame, the first lens retaining frame (11) being supported so as to be able to move in the optical axis direction; and a first drive unit (60) for rotationally driving the second frame, the first drive unit (60) being attached to the third frame. The second frame, the third frame, and the first lens retaining frame are capable of moving in the optical axis direction relative to the first frame, and the first lens retaining frame does not overlap with the first frame as viewed from the direction perpendicular to the optical axis when the first lens retaining frame is moved furthest toward the subject.
