Abstract:
In this invention, a backlight device (12) comprises: LEDs (15); a light-guide plate (17) having one end surface facing the LEDs (15) serving as a light entry end surface (17a) wherefrom light enters, and having one among a pair of plate surfaces serving as a light exit plate surface (17b) wherefrom the light exits; a light-focusing portion (22) comprising a plurality of unit light-focusing portions (22a) provided on the light exit plate surface (17b) in such a form as to extend along a normal direction to the light entry end surface (17a) and to be aligned along an orthogonal direction that is orthogonal to the normal direction; and a light entry opposing end portion (23), which is an end portion within the light-guide plate (17) on the side opposite to the light entry end surface (17a) side. In the light entry opposing end portion (23), at least a portion of the end surface serves as a curved end surface (24) whereof the planar shape is curved, and at least a portion of the light exit plate surface (17b) serves as a light-focusing portion non-formed region (25) wherein no light-focusing portion (22) is formed.
