Abstract:
The present invention relates to a lightweight sound-absorbing refractory thermal insulating material and a method for manufacturing the same, the thermal insulating material comprising a binder for providing adhesion, expanded graphite and swellable clay, wherein the swellable clay has a layered structure in the form of a honeycomb which includes water molecules and in which the distance between layers of the clay expands 20 to 50 times by heating, and the swellable clay has a particle size of between 50 µm and 200 µm, and wherein the thermal insulating material includes 10 to 100 parts by weight of the expanded graphite with respect to 100 parts by weight of the swellable clay. Since the expanded graphite and the swellable clay in a honeycomb structure are used, the thermal insulating material of the present invention enhances sound-absorbing performance, has excellent thermal insulation, fire resistance and flame retardancy, and can be manufactured without a baking process, thereby having a simple process and lowering the unit cost of production.
