Abstract:
Provided is a mass spectrometer characterized by having: a linear ion trap unit that has a multipolar rod electrode including a rod electrode (7c) that has pores (11, 12) that pass electrons or ions; a mechanism that moves ions, inside the linear ion trap unit, in the direction of the axis of the multipolar rod electrode; and a detector (25) that detects ions that are ejected, selectively by mass, from the linear ion trap unit. In comparison to existing mass spectrometers, the provided mass spectrometer is small, has a simple design, and is both durable and high-resolution.
