Abstract:
A master cylinder with a fill-up function installed in a hydraulic brake system for a vehicle and capable of generating hydraulic pressure according to the operation of a brake operating member, comprising an interlocked selector valve switched in mechanical association with the relative movement of a piston (42) relative to a housing (40). Until the piston (42) advances by a set distance from a backward end position, the interlocked selector valve is positioned in a first state where a fill-up chamber (54) is allowed to communicate with a reservoir (72) through a relief valve (88). In a state where the piston advances by the set distance or longer, the interlocked selector valve is switched to a second state where the fill-up chamber is allowed to communicate directly with the reservoir (72) through a communication passage (84) without passing the relief valve. Thus, a hydraulic pressure in the fill-up chamber (54) is rapidly lowered and hydraulic pressures in pressurizing chambers (50) and (52) are rapidly increased to solve problems such as the effect delay of a brake.
