Title:
METHOD FOR ACCESSING THE RESOURCES OF THE WORLD WIDE WEB
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1999/063711
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention pertains to the electric communication technology and may be used for reducing the time of access to the resources of data transmission networks or the Internet. This invention can also be used for integrating networks based on Internet protocols with existing infrastructures as well as with digital broadcasting techniques, i.e. air, cable, satellite, cellular or other broadcasting techniques. The purpose of this invention is to reduce the time for accessing the resources of the world wide web as identified by URL or URI systems. The method corresponds to the client/server interaction model, to the world wide web standards as well as to the Internet protocols. When a client/server inter-network connection is established on the paths of the Internet, the clients generate requests, send them to the servers and receive from said servers request objects and/or answer flows via proxy servers and/or gateways. The above-mentioned units concentrate and/or readdress and/or set as cache the requests and/or the request objects and/or the answer flows. The clients send their requests to the servers via the Internet network and through the proxy servers and/or gateways according to a first path. Once they have readdressed the requests to the servers and received from said servers the request objects and/or the answer flows, these units modify the transmission path of the request objects and/or the answer flows from the proxy servers and/or gateways to the clients in order to replace the first path with a second one. These units further send the request objects and/or the answer flows in a wide-broadcasting network to the clients using at least one unidirectional emitting network interface. The clients receive the request objects and/or the answer flows from the wide-broadcasting network and through the unidirectional emitting network interfaces. The second path is shorter than the first one and/or an indirect routing is applied on the first path while a direct one is applied on the second path. The clients may be web clients or private networks and/or LANs and/or intranet networks which are connected to the Internet via proxy servers and/or multi-service gateways.
