Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for encoding a 3D image including a point cloud, the method comprising the steps of: grouping a plurality of points included in the point cloud into at least one segment; generating patches by projecting points included in the segment in a first direction or a second direction with respect to a predetermined plane; generating 2D images by packing the patches; and generating and outputting a bitstream including information on the 2D images and information on the direction in which each of the points is projected to generate the patches.
