Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for installing a software module in a device which is operated by an operating system and a hardware-independent software environment, for example a Java environment. New software modules for the operating system are installed via an interface in the software environment and an installation manager in the operating system. For doing so, the software environment transmits data regarding the installation interface to the installation manager. Said installation manager then executes installation of the software module in a manner shielded from the software environment.
