A method for manufacturing a fiber-containing dispersion liquid comprising a step for obtaining a coarse dispersion liquid (20) containing a fiber (10), and a processing step for passing the coarse dispersion liquid (20) through a filter medium (40) to remove foreign matter. The filter medium (40) is composed of a sheet material having a plurality of opening parts (42) for passing the coarse dispersion (2) and a non-opening part (44) for separating a plurality of opening parts (42). The following relational expressions are satisfied: (1) 1/2 the length of the average major axis of the fiber ≤ the minor axis width of the opening parts (42) ≤ five times the length of the average major axis of the fiber (10); (2) minimum width of the non-opening part (44) ≥ the length of the average major axis of the fiber (10); and (3) opening ratio of the filter medium (40) ≥ 0.9%.
