Abstract:
Provided is a method for manufacturing ketones, which are a constituent of sex hormones of male brown rats (Rattus norvegicus). This method for manufacturing ketones comprises the following three steps: (1) A first step in which an α,β-insoluble aldehyde is obtained by aldol condensation of acetaldhyde and butyraldehyde; (2) a second step in which at least one α,β-insoluble aldehyde obtained in the first step is made to react with an alkyl agent to obtain an allyl alcohol; and (3) a third step in which the allyl alcohol obtained in the second step is modified into a ketone.
