Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a production method by which 4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid can be obtained with a high yield. The present invention discloses a method for producing 4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid represented by formula (2), the method comprising a step in which a 4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl dialkali metal salt represented by formula (1) (wherein M represents potassium, lithium, rubidium or cesium) and carbon dioxide are reacted with each other in a light oil in the presence of an alkali metal salt of acetic acid.
