Abstract:
Disclosed is a method of producing a mold for lens wherein the upper surface of a glass material to be molded is molded into the shape of a molding surface for forming a progressive surface or a surface including a progressive element, using a continuous furnace. The temperature of the continuous furnace is controlled so that a warming area having a temperature distribution wherein the temperature gradually increases in the conveyance direction of a mold is included, a mold having a curvature distribution on the molding surface is used, and the separation distance between the molding surface of the mold and the lower surface of a glass material to be molded is specified at two or more positions before the mold is introduced into the continuous furnace. In the warming area, the mold is conveyed such that the portion where the specified separation distance is maximized is included in the portion on the side of the conveyance direction of the mold which is divided into two by a virtual line orthogonally intersecting with the conveyance direction and passing through the geometric center of the molding surface.
