The present invention pertains to the preliminary distillation of crude for separating oil fractions in a stripping column as well as in a main rectifying column, wherein the gasoline fraction is obtained in the stripping column while the totality or a portion of the gasoline, kerosene, diesel and oil-fuel fractions are obtained in the main column. A vacuum generating system is used for maintaining vacuum at the top of the main column as well as in the reflux vessel thereof. Preferably, a pressure close to the atmospheric one is maintained in the still of the main column. In the stripping column, a gasoline extraction and a precise fraction separation are obtained that ensure a maximal condensation level of the gasoline and water vapours in the cooler and in the reflux vessel of the main column. Preferably, the whole diesel fraction is also removed in a single flow from the main column. The separation precision can thus be strongly increased, while substantially increasing the extraction of high-quality white and valuable petroleum products.
