Disclosed is a method for realizing a pressure-based three-option button, comprising: detecting the value of a pressing force applied to a predetermined position of an electronic device; if the value of the pressing force applied to the predetermined position is detected to be greater than a first threshold, activating a three-option function button mode; after the three-option function button mode has been activated, acquiring a current sliding direction and a current sliding distance of a body part of a user at the predetermined position; and adjusting a three-option volume setting of the electronic device according to the current sliding direction and the current sliding distance, wherein different current sliding directions and current sliding distances correspond to states of different function modes. The above arrangement realizes functions of a physical button without having to form a hole on an electronic device for installation of a physical button, enhances the integrity of a middle frame of a mobile phone, and provides the device with sealing and water resistance functions. Since no physical button is required, the research, development and production costs of electronic devices can be reduced.
