Abstract:
A power contact comprises a main body including a first body portion and a second body portion. A plurality of contact beams (102, 106) are arranged at one end of the main body for mating engagement with a mating contact. Multiple ones of the contact beams extend from the first body portion, and other multiple ones of the contact beams extend from the second body portion. The contact beams are arranged in beam pairs (104, 108) each including one of the contact beams extending from the first body portion and one of the contact beams extending from the second body portion. At least one of the beam pairs is an initial contact beam pair (104) which extends further from the main body than the other contact beam pairs (108) such that the initial contact beam pair electrically connects to the mating contact before the other contact beam pairs connect to the mating contact.
