Abstract:
Provided are a multilayer ceramic capacitor in which cracking is less likely to occur, and a method for mounting a multilayer ceramic capacitor. A multilayer ceramic capacitor 1 of the present invention comprises: a multilayer body 2 which includes a dielectric body layer 14 and an internal electrode layer 15 that are alternately layered, and that has major surfaces A on both sides in a multilayering direction, side surfaces B on both sides in a width direction orthogonal to the multilayering direction, and end surfaces C on both sides in a length direction intersecting the multilayering direction and the width direction; and outer electrodes 3 which include end surface portions 3c disposed on the respective end surfaces C, major surface portions 3a extending from one end surface C toward the other end surface C on the major surface A in the length direction, and side surface portions 3b extending on the side surfaces B in the length direction. When the multilayer ceramic capacitor 1 is viewed from the major surface A side, a maximum-length portion 50 of the major surface portions 3a in the length direction is positioned in a region that does not overlap a region in which the internal electrode layer 15 is internally disposed.
