Abstract:

A photo-detection section (5) includes a photo-sensitive region (10), a first signal processing circuit (20), and a second signal processing circuit (30). The photo-sensitive region (10) has pixels 11_mn arranged in two dimensions with M rows and N columns. One pixel consists of a photo-sensitive part 12_mn and a photo-sensitive part 13_mn arranged adjacent to each other on a single plane for outputting current in accordance with the intensity of the incident light. One of the photo-sensitive parts 12_mn is electrically connected to each other over a plurality of pixels 11₁₁ to 11_1N, ..., 11_M1 to 11_MN arranged in the first direction in the two-dimensional arrangement. Moreover, the other photo-sensitive part 13_mn is electrically connected to each other over a plurality of pixels 11₁₁ to 11_MN, ..., 11_1N to 11_MN arranged in the second direction in the two-dimensional arrangement.
