Abstract:
The invention provides a natural marble like crystallized glass which is improved in whiteness and has an unprecedented color tone and a process for the production of the same. The natural marble like crystallized glass is characterized in that the surface of the crystallized glass exhibits, in the L*a*b* color model, values of a* and b* of ±1.0 or below and a whiteness degree L* of 93.5 or above, while the process comprises packing plural small crystallizable glass pieces into a refractory vessel, heat-treating the pieces at a temperature higher than the softening point to form 20 to 50 % by mass of crystals, and thus obtaining a nature marble like crystallized glass exhibiting, in the L*a*b* color model, values of a* and b* of ±1.0 or below and a whiteness degree L* of 93.5 or above.
