Abstract:
Provided is a nickel-containing hydroxide with which it is possible to obtain a positive electrode active material having exceptional initial charge/discharge efficiency and high volume capacity density. This nickel-containing hydroxide is a precursor of a positive electrode active material in a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, wherein the peak intensity ratio of α/β is 0.80-1.38 (inclusive), and the average major axis of primary particles is 290-425 nm (inclusive), where α is the peak intensity of a diffraction peak appearing in the 2θ=19.2±1 range in powder X-ray diffraction measurement using CuKα rays, and β is the peak intensity of a diffraction peak appearing in the 2θ=38.5±1 range in powder X-ray diffraction measurement using CuKα rays.
