Abstract:
Provided is an occupant detection device having a reduced processing load. The processing load of occupant detection processing can be reduced by providing, for the occupant detection device, an image acquisition unit (1) which acquires an image from an imaging device (20) having an imaging range containing a driver existing on a driver's seat of a vehicle and a passenger existing on a passenger's seat or a rear seat of the vehicle, an occupant detection unit (4) which can acquire the image from the image acquisition unit (1) to detect the driver and the passenger within the image, and a detection target determination unit (3, 8) which determines whether a detection target of the occupant detection unit (4) is set to one occupant, i.e. either the driver or the passenger, or to both occupants, i.e. the driver and the passenger, wherein the occupant detection unit (4) detects the one occupant when the detection target determination unit (3, 8) determines that the one occupant is set to the detection target and detects both occupants when the detection target determination unit (3, 8) determines that both occupants are set to the detection target.
