Abstract:
Provided are a small-sized and lightweight optical element whereby an image can be projected in a plurality of directions, and an image display device. The present invention provides an optical element comprising a light-incidence surface, a plurality of side surfaces perpendicular to the light-incidence surface, a light guide part having a back surface facing the light-incidence surface, and a plurality of diffraction grating parts formed on at least two surfaces selected from among the side surfaces and the back surface.
