Title:
OPTICAL WAVELENGTH MULTIPLEXING AND DEMULTIPLEXING CIRCUIT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2010/007888
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is an optical wavelength multiplexing and demultiplexing circuit that compensates for the temperature dependence of a transmitting central wavelength remaining in an athermal AWG, that is excellent in a transmittable central wavelength precision in all the usable temperature region or relatively wide in all the usable temperature region, and that has low loss and flat transmitting spectra.  Taking note of such a point that the transmitting central wavelength of an MZI synchronizing AWG is approximately an average value of an MZI transmitting wavelength and the AWG transmittable central wavelength, the temperature dependence of the athermal MZI transmittable wavelength is modulated to set, thereby canceling the temperature dependence of the transmittable central wavelength remaining in the athermal AWG.  Particularly taking note of an optical coupler in the MZI, a mechanism in which a phase difference between two outputs changes in accordance with a temperature is provided to the optical coupler per se, thereby modulating the temperature dependence of the MZI transmittable wavelength.
