Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide: an organic electroluminescence element that emits light uniformly over the entire surface without current concentration even in a dot-emitting image with a simple configuration using a common power supply and a common electrode; a manufacturing method thereof; a simple display device equipped with same; and printed matter. The organic electroluminescence element of the present invention having, on a substrate, a pair of electrodes that are a positive electrode and a negative electrode facing each other, and an image display unit sandwiched between the electrodes, is characterized in that: the image display unit is configured with a light emitting image display unit and a non-light emitting image display unit; the light emitting image display unit has at least a hole transport layer and a light emitting layer that is adjacent to the hole transport layer and contains a host compound and a light emitting dopant; the light emitting image display unit has a plurality of light emitting pixels each having the light emitting layer; the plurality of light emitting pixels each have a common electrode and a common host compound; and the light emitting dopant is contained in a positive electrode side interface of the light emitting layer.
