Description:
A PAYMENT SYSTEM WITH VERIFICATION STEP BY IDENTITY

CARD

Technical Field

The present invention relates to a system for making payment without the need for individuals to have an instrument of payment that will require password such as credit card, debit card physically in places like store, market, restaurant wherein payment is made through PoS (point of sale) device.

Background of the Invention Today, there are institutions offering various payment options to users such as contactless payment, payment by scanning QR code. Users usually have to carry their cards such as credit card, debit card whereby they will make payment, along with them in places like stores, markets, restaurants wherein payments are received through PoS device. However, this may pose a problem particularly for users who use a plurality of cards.

Considering the studies in the state of the art, it is understood that there is need for a system which enables to carry out payment transactions by means of an identity authentication step, upon information of payment instruments are defined to identity cards that must be kept by every citizen.

The Chinese patent document no. CN110175837, an application in the state of the art, discloses a system which enables to make payment by using NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. A mobile terminal, a background server and a printing terminal are included in the inventive system. The background server comprises a detection unit, an information sending unit, an acquisition unit, a matching unit and a judgment unit. The detection unit determines whether an NFC function of the mobile terminal operates or not. The acquisition unit ensures that the card swiping operation of the mobile terminal -NFC function of which operates- is carried out and the card transfers the related information through an NFC chip. The related operation is carried out upon the received information verification operation is achieved.

Summary of the Invention

An objective of the present invention is to realize a system which enables users to make payment in a secure way without carrying a credit card during shopping.

Detailed Description of the Invention

“A Payment System with Verification Step by Identity Card” realized to fulfil the objective of the present invention is shown in the figure attached, in which:

Figure l is a schematic view of the inventive system.

The components illustrated in the figure are individually numbered, where the numbers refer to the following:

1. System

2. Identity card

3. Electronic device

4. NFC reader

5. Verification server

6. Payment server

The inventive system (1) for making payment without the need for individuals to have an instrument of payment that will require password such as credit card, debit card physically in places like store, market, restaurant wherein payment is made through PoS device comprises: at least one identity card (2) which is configured to include at least one chip with NFC technology on it and to store the payment information of a user; - at least one electronic device (3) which is configured to comprise at least one camera configured to take the image of a user; at least one NFC reader (4) which is configured to obtain the information and the identity photo included in the chip by scanning the chip on the identity card (2); - at least one verification server (5) which is configured to compare the image taken by the electronic device (3) camera and the identity photo obtained by the NFC reader (4); at least one payment server (6) which is configured to ensure that the payment is completed by using the user’s payment information stored on the identity card (2), when the verification server (5) obtains a comparison in accordance with a predetermined accuracy rate.

The identity card (2) included in the inventive system (1) is configured to carry at least one chip configured to enable data transmission by means of NFC technology on it. The identity card (2) is configured to store payment information that are predefined by users and related to payment instruments such as credit card, debit card included in financial institutions like banks, and at least one photo of the user.

The electronic device (3) included in the inventive system (1) is configured to comprise at least one camera configured to take at least one image including the face of a person on it. The electronic device (3) is a device such as mobile phone, tablet, computer. The NFC reader (4) included in the inventive system (1) is configured to read the information that are included in the chip and the user’s photo by scanning the chip on the identity card (2). The NFC reader (4) is a device such as PoS device.

The verification server (5) included in the inventive system (1) is configured to compare the image obtained by the electronic device (3) camera and the user’s photo obtained by the NFC reader (4) by processing via a predetermined similarity algorithm. The verification server (5) is configured to tag the comparison made by it, as successful/unsuccessful in accordance with a predetermined threshold value.

The payment server (6) included in the inventive system (1) is configured to realize the related payment over the account chosen by the user as an instrument of payment, by accessing the payment information and the payment authorizations that are stored in the identity card (2) and related to the user account in connection with at least one financial institution, in the event of determining that the comparison made by the verification server (5) is successful. The payment server (6) is configured to realize the related payment over this account if a different instrument of payment being stored in the identity card (2) is present, in the event that no sufficient balance is available in the account chosen by the user.

In the inventive system (1), the identity card (2) of a user who wants to carry out a purchase transactions is scanned to a NFC reader (4) at first. Facial image of the user is taken by means of a camera located on the electronic device (3). Upon the information are received from the identity card (2) by means of the NFC reader (4) successfully, they are compared with the image of the person by means of the verification server (5). If the comparison made is successful at a predetermined rate, information related to the instrument of payment that is defined by the user are received by the payment server (6) and then it is ensured to proceed the payment transaction. With the invention, users can use the payment information that are defined to their identity cards in places like store, market, restaurant and it is ensured that the related payment is realized without needing a card/password in a secure way via verification that is made by means of facial images acquired in the said place.

The identity card (2), the electronic device (3), the NFC reader (4), the verification server (5) and the payment server (6) included in the inventive system (1) provide information and approval to the user in accordance with principles of data privacy and they operate within the scope of the Law on Protection of Personal Data (KVKK).

Within these basic concepts; it is possible to develop various embodiments of the inventive system (1); the invention cannot be limited to examples disclosed herein and it is essentially according to claims.
