Title:
POLYETHYLENE MULTILAYER MICROPOROUS MEMBRANE, BATTERY SEPARATOR USING SAME, AND BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/023918
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed is a polyethylene multilayer microporous membrane comprising a first porous layer (a) composed of a polyethylene resin and a second porous layer (b) containing a polyethylene resin and a heat-resistant resin having a melting point or glass transition temperature of not less than 170˚C. In the second porous layer (b), the heat-resistant resin is dispersed in the polyethylene resin in the form of particles, and fibrils of the polyethylene resin are cleaved by using the heat-resistant resin particles as nuclei, thereby forming pores. Such a polyethylene multilayer microporous membrane has a good balance among shutdown characteristics, meltdown characteristics, permeability, mechanical strength, thermal shrinkage resistance and compression resistance.
