Abstract:

A portable telephone (1) is provided with an acceleration sensor (16), a communication unit (15), and a control unit (18). The acceleration sensor (16) detects acceleration. The communication unit (15) performs communication. When the portable telephone is determined, on the basis of the acceleration detected by the acceleration sensor (16), to have transitioned from a moving state to a stopped state, the control unit (18) turns the power to the communication unit (15) off if a communication connection between the communication unit (15) and a base station is not established, but does not turn the power to the communication unit (15) off it the communication connection between the communication unit (15) and the base station is established.
