Abstract:
A positive displacement sorter apparatus (10) includes a plurality of interconnected slats (20) defining an endless web (12), an upper run of the endless web defining a conveying surface. A plurality of pusher shoes (126) are provided, each moving along at least one of the plurality of slats (20) to laterally displace articles on the conveying surface. A linear motor propulsion system may be provided for propelling the web (12) including at least one motor primary (28) and a plurality of motor secondaries (164) at the slats.
