Abstract:
A power supply apparatus for a die-sinking electric discharge comprises a DC power supply (12), a current sensor (14) which detects a gap current (Igap), a first switching element (16) directly connected between the DC supply source and a tool electrode (2), a first reverse-blocking diode (22) which is connected in parallel to the DC supply source and directly to the first switching element, a second switching element (18) which is connected directly between the DC supply source and a workpiece (3), a second reverse-blocking diode (24) which is connected in parallel to the DC supply source and directly to the second switching element, and a pulse controller (20) which controls the first and second switching elements in accordance with the gap current (Igap). Both the first and second switching elements are turned ON between a first time (t1) at which the discharge occurs in the machining gap and a second time (t2) at which the gap current reaches a peak current during discharge, and only one of the first and second switching elements is turned OFF at the second time.
