Abstract:
In mounting a toner cartridge, the user or operator slides the toner cartridge on the unit main body. A pinion (62) on the toner cartridge side meshes with a rack (64) on the unit main body side. When the toner cartridge advances, the rotary motion of the pinions (62, 63) is converted into the linear motion of a rack (65). An open&sol close member (58) connected to the rack (65) is retracted from the opening (56) in the toner cartridge. Thus the opening (56) in the toner cartridge is opened. The toner is fed through the opening (56) to a photoconductor drum in the unit main body. Thus the simple slide movement of the toner cartridge results in realizing the open&sol close operation of the open&sol close member (58). The operator is freed from operation of the open&sol close member.
